Description

I dedicate this one to Daniela, Paulina, Maite  MaiteGoitia and Pedro. Again, thank you for your work We Steal The Noah's Ark by  ARZILLIER66 I am still feeling in the clouds for that friendly gesture. Well, as you all know, Ian is already back home with me here in Osaka. Clap! Clap! Clappity! Clap! Clap!
This is my first serious attempt with figure photography and wish I could have done better (like not cutting his chin and fingers off ). I tried re-shooting the same composition but couldn't get the same effect that I got here.
There were two shots that I took and the other one is posted in a very small version due to my bandwidth limitation.

No cropping was done with both versions.
I hope you all like the one that I decided to post here as my entry and as always, thanks for viewing/commenting/voting.

PS1: Unrelated topic to my entry here but I am hoping that there will be more 3D and Design artworks so that we can have Elite Members for those categories. :)
PS2: I've been busy a bit and will catch up with commenting/voting as soon as I can...best wishes to everyone!

Good composition and effort! My only crit is that I wish your image were more in focus. The B&W works pretty good here too! Keep it up! :)

Very nice Maridol! I agree it could stand to be a little sharper, but still a very good first attempt at portraiture.

Ian looked more impish with the moustache, but he looks glad to be back regardless. :)
Good capture of a moment! The focus and the fingers are noticeable but still a good first try at portraits.

I appreciate everyone's comments/votes/suggestions. I also wish I can do something about the focus. With your help and advice I'll try my best to learn every aspect of photography to create something much better entries :)

Yes, artisticly this is very strong photo, my friend. But technically it needs few workarounds. It would be very helpful if you write down the parameters of this photo. Exposure time, iso, aperture.

Try to use higher ISO like 200, 400 or 800, depending on camera you use ofcourse. If you can afford, you can use bounce flash or some other source from left or right side of portraiter. About focus, hmm, it doesn't look off-focus to me rather then it is stressed image cause of long exposure time. Depending on the lenght of your lens you have to have time for 60mm --> 1/60sec or less, like 1/100 or 1/150...

On the other hand I find this image full of emotions, great work.

Robert, thank you very much for the advice. It's interesting you mentioned those equipments since I don't have them (yet)...I only used a digital camera and natural lights for this shot. But I'm sure it would've been a lot better if I have those tools and I'll keep your advice in mind :)

my ex tried a pic like this on me once - it involved a lot of arghh shuffling, a broken camera and lost pride on both sides lol.

Good Lord, is that me??? :o Had no idea I looked so young still... must be the Maridol Effect! *chuckle* Anyway, wonderful image, Sweetie, this was a trying compostion for you, the light was dim and your subject refused to behave ;) ...It's good to be home again, I missed you dearly.

Ah! I just love this kind of photo and sharing. I see and feel the love you two share. The photo's quality is secondary in this case, except that you captured how handsome, and yes, young looking I an is Maridol. All happiness to you both.
